Monoculture Vs Polyculture

Monoculture Vs Polyculture

Monoculture vs Polyculture is a big topic in farming circles today. If you look at nature you can see that it is natural for different plants to work together and benefit each other. The most well know human designed polyculture or guild is the Three Sisters, the Native Americans used this guild to produce corn, beans, and squash. The corn acts like a trellis for the beans and the squash act as a ground cover. Using this method they could produce more with less space, work less, and grow more nutrient dense foods.

Circular Economy

Circular Economy

The Circular Economy is the future! As I have said in the past, “I believe that the modern day society we live in is out of balance with nature and inherently unsustainable. We live on a finite planet with finite resources, so we have to be smart how we use them, the change we need will not come from government but everyday people like you and me. I do what I think is right and hope that some will follow in my footsteps.” Check out the video below to learn more about The Circular Economy and keep reading to find out how you kan help make a difference!

The Man Who Planted Trees is a wonderful story of one man who turned a deserted wasteland into an oasis. Undeterred by two World Wars, and without any thought of personal reward, Elzéard Bouffier a solitary shepherd tirelessly sowed his seeds in the hills of France where there was once nothing with his bare hands because that’s what he thought needed to be done.

Permaculture Design Course at East End Eden

Permaculture Design Course at East End Eden
Earlier this year I decided I was fully committed to living a Permaculture lifestyle. It was obvious that I had to take a PDC  also known as a Permaculture Design Course so I could learn everything as much as I could and get some hands on experiences! So I did some research and visited a few places that offered the course. When I went to visit Connor Jones at East End Eden I felt an instant connection. Conner took me on a tour of his Property and showed me all the amazing things he was doing. It was at that point that I knew I wanted to take my Permaculture Design Course at East End Eden.
Check out OjaiPermaculture.com to when the next permaculture course will be at East End Eden. I would highly recommend it as Conner is an amazing instructor. Also feel free to check out this article written during the course.

The High Price of Materialism

The High Price of Materialism

Materialism is all bad, it’s so sad that things and the fear of losing those things can make people so crazy. Materialism can lead to depression, anxiety, and general unhappiness. Also, any concern for the wellbeing of our environment goes right out the window.

What is Permaculture?

by Josh Noland 0 Comments
What is Permaculture?

What is Permaculture? Well this is what I used to tell them “Permaculture is a design science for your life, based upon the highest ethical standards. It includes environmental design, integrated water resource management, and regenerative agricultural systems modeled from natural ecosystems.” It’s what get’s me out of bed ever morning!

Now I tell them that “Permaculture is a holistic approach to land and life design!” it’s also  what get’s me out of bed ever morning!

Beyond Sustainable, what’s that?

by Josh Noland 1 Comment
Beyond Sustainable, what’s that?

Beyond Sustainable is a place where you can learn and share ideas that can help us be more regenerative and self-sufficient.

We live in a world to today where corporations will sell you anything to make a buck, no matter how toxic or wasteful and that makes me really sad. We live on a finite planet with finite resources, and if we continue the way we have, it will just be a matter of time before we are forced to change. We must adapt our ways to meet the growing demand for resources and start to correct the damage we have already done.
